Founded in late 2017 by Pavithra Datta and Nihar Bandaru in Bangalore, Ether & Sol Design House is a multidisciplinary studio rooted in thoughtful design and driven by context.

The firm’s journey began in 2018 with interior projects for the F&B sector in the Middle East. In just three years, it delivered over 20 restaurant interiors across the region—quickly gaining recognition for its ability to create distinctive spatial experiences within fast-paced timelines. Ether & Sol soon became the global interior design partner for the award-winning brand Brunch & Cake, designing and executing over 15 outlets worldwide since 2021.

In India, Ether & Sol focuses primarily on architecture and interior design for the residential sector. From holiday homes to luxury apartments, each project is approached as a deeply personal narrative—tailored to reflect the lifestyle, aspirations, and individuality of its occupants. By deliberately limiting the number of residences undertaken each year, the firm ensures an intensive, detail-oriented design process, resulting in homes that are truly bespoke.

Since 2020, the studio has also expanded into industrial design, having worked on large-scale manufacturing facilities for a private aerospace company, demonstrating its capacity to scale design thinking across diverse typologies.

PAVITHRA DATTA

After working with leading architectural firms in Bangalore, Pavithra Datta established her independent practice in 2016, laying the groundwork for Ether & Sol Design House. Her strength lies in spatial planning—crafting layouts that are both efficient and intuitive, always rooted in function and comfort. A strong advocate for natural light, she brings the “Sol” into every space she designs.

Her design language is shaped by her travels—drawn from a love for slow exploration and deep engagement with places, cultures, and landscapes. Whether by the coast or in the mountains, these experiences translate into a contextual and nuanced design approach.

Pavithra graduated with a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Dayananda Sagar School of Engineering in 2013. Her professional experience includes roles at Mindspace Architects, Architecture Continuous, and Collage Architecture Studio. 

Founder & Principal Architect

NIHAR BANDARU

A graduate of RV College of Engineering, Nihar Bandaru brings a sharp visual sensibility and a detail-driven approach to Ether & Sol’s design language. Guided by the belief that “God is in the details,” his work is defined by precision, restraint, and immersive spatial narratives that reveal themselves through thoughtful materiality and proportion.

At the studio, Nihar plays a key role in refining design concepts into cohesive, built realities—blending analytical thinking with artistic intuition. He is especially drawn to projects that demand conceptual clarity and technical depth, making him an anchor in the firm’s multidisciplinary approach.

Beyond architecture, Nihar is an avid gamer and coffee enthusiast—interests that echo his appreciation for immersion, craft, and systems thinking. Whether sketching details or leading reviews, his ability to balance aesthetics with function is central to shaping Ether & Sol’s evolving ethos.
